What is JWU?

Johnson and Wales University was founded in 1914 as a private, nonprofit, accredited institution of higher learning. JWU has approximately 15,000 graduate, undergraduate and online students enrolled at four campuses in Providence (RI), North Miami (FL), Denver (CO), and Charlotte (NC). What programs are included in the JWU/IIHEM Joint Academic Programs?
Three programs are included :

Semester Abroad Program:

  • Allows IIHEM undergraduates to spend a semester, extensible to a year, at JWU.

Bachelor's Transfer Program:

  • Allows undergraduate students to start their studies at IIHEM and complete their Bachelor's degree at JWU. Credits earned at IIHEM are transferred to JWU.

MBA Transfer Program:

  • Allows students to enter the JWU MBA program after completing four years of study and two fifth year courses at IIHEM.

Who is eligible to apply to these programs?

Semester Abroad Program:

  • Qualified IIHEM students who have successfully completed at least three semesters of academic study.

Bachelor's Transfer Program:

  • Qualified IIHEM undergraduates enrolled in BAC+3 who have successfully completed at least four or six semesters of academic study.

MBA Transfer Program:

  • Qualified IIHEM students enrolled in BAC+5 who have successfully completed four years of academic study and have taken two courses from the fifth year.

  • This program is not a degree program. Courses taken at JWU will be transferred to equivalent courses at IIHEM.

Are these programs accredited?

Yes.IIHEM diplomas are accredited and "Reconnus Equivalents" by the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education. JWU is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

How is the program delivered?

Semester Abroad Program:

  • Students must have completed three academic semesters at IIHEM. Students in their third or fourth year can be enrolled in this non-degree program.

Bachelor's Transfer Program:

  • The first two or three years of the academic undergraduate program are delivered on the IIHEM campus by IIHEM professors and the remaining one year of the undergraduate program is delivered by JWU professors in USA.

MBA Transfer Program:

  • The first four years of the academic undergraduate program and the two courses of MBA program are delivered at IIHEM campus. JWU professors in USA deliver the remaining graduate program.
What is required to graduate?

Successfully complete the credits in the program with a minimum 2.00 GPA for the Bachelor's program and a minimum 3.00 GPA for the MBA program.

Will I be able to transfer credits from IIHEM to JWU?

Yes, so long as this remains within the general framework. You will however pay JWU tuition whenever you are on the JWU campus.

There are no application deadlines, as JWU have rolling admissions, and therefore accept and respond to applicants on a rotating basis.

  • A total of 185.5 JWU quarter credits. Students may transfer up to 84 IIHEM credits (equivalent to 126 JWU quarter credits) from courses taken at IIHEM.

  • A total of 33 credits, 6 of which are taken at IIHEM and 27 at JWU.

No , International students need to maintain a full-time status, and are eligible to work only on campus for a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year, and 25 hours per week during vacation.

  • Students have to pay IIHEM (home tuition) for all courses taken at JWU. Travel, insurance and living expenses at JWU are the responsibility of each student.

Who is responsible for getting the visa to USA?

You are.

Prospective students are responsible for getting the visa appointment and obtaining the visa from the embassy. The university will issue an i-20 after proper documentation is provided.

Will I be able to work in the USA after successfully finishing my program?

After graduation from JWU, students may be eligible to work for twelve months under the government Optional Practical Training (OPT) program. JWU does not guarantee employment in the US after graduation, but has services, faculty, and staff in place to assist students in crafting a competitive employment profile.

I am interested! How should I start the process?

  • Student submits an application to the IIHEM Director of International Programs (DoIP),
  • Once the application is deemed receivable by IIHEM, student meets with the DoIP to discuss and receive approval of your program of study at JWU,
  • Student submits application to JWU with IIHEM endorsement,
  • Detailed steps are provided and regular communication follow-up from JWU's admissions team ensues to ensure that all proper documentation is provided,
  • JWU informs IIHEM and the student of the admissions decision,
  • On admission, the student pays a $500 acceptance fee, confirming his acceptance of admission and his intent to enroll,
  • Upon reception of acceptance fee, JWU prepares the visa documents for candidates,
  • For visa JWU will issue an i-20 after proper documentation is provided,,
  • Candidates go to local USA embassy to apply long term study visa,
  • Candidates receive the visa and plan their trip!
