The Global Institute of Management and Economics (GIME) is a part of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE), located in Dalian, People's Republic of China. DUFE is one of China's top-ranked universities. GIME is a research-focused Institute with a diverse student community of more than 1,000 students, and a teaching staff of over 60 faculty members many of whom are graduates of reputed international universities. What is GIME, DUFE?

The Global Institute of Management and Economics (GIME) is a part of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE), located in Dalian, People's Republic of China (PRC).

DUFE is one of China's top-ranked universities. GIME is a research-focused Institute with a diverse student community of more than 1,000 students, and a teaching staff of over 60 faculty members many of whom are graduates of reputed international universities.

Where is DUFE located?

DUFE is located in northeast China in the city of Dalian. Dalian is a 50-minute flight from Beijing and a two-hour flight from Shanghai. A centre for trade and finance, Dalian is one of China's most prosperous cities, attracting top international companies such as Microsoft, Nokia, IBM, Intel and Accenture, as well as major banking, insurance and security companies.

Dalian is also a popular tourist destination, with a mild climate, beautiful beaches and stunning coastal scenery. Dalian is a great place to live and study as an international student.

What programs are included in the GIME/IIHEM Joint Academic Programs?
Four programs are included :

Semester Abroad Program:

  • Allows IIHEM students to spend a semester, extensible to a year, at GIME.

Bachelor's Transfer Program:

  • Allows undergraduate students to start their studies at IIHEM and complete their Bachelor's degree at GIME. Credits earned at IIHEM are transferred to GIME.

Direct Entrance Master Program:

  • Allows students to enter the GIME Master's program after four years of study at IIHEM.

Dual Master's Program:

  • Allows students to earn both the IIHEM BAC+5 degree and the GIME Master's degree.

Who is eligible to apply to these programs?

Semester Abroad Program:

  • Qualified IIHEM students who have successfully completed at least three semesters of academic study and are enrolled either in the third or fourth year at IIHEM.

Bachelor's Transfer Program:

  • Qualified IIHEM students enrolled in BAC+3 who have successfully completed at least four semesters of academic study.

Direct Entrance Master Program:

  • Qualified IIHEM students enrolled in BAC+5 who have successfully completed four years of academic study.

  • Qualified IIHEM students who have completed the BAC+5 program.

  • This program is not a degree program. Courses taken at GIME will be transferred to equivalent courses at IIHEM.

Are these programs accredited?

Yes. IIHEM diplomas are accredited by the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education and the GIME degrees are accredited by Ministry of Education, People's Republic of China.

How is the program delivered?

Semester Abroad Program:

  • Students must have completed three academic semesters at IIHEM. Students in their third or fourth year can be enrolled in this non-degree program.

Bachelor's Transfer Program:

  • The first two years of the academic undergraduate program are delivered on the IIHEM campus by IIHEM professors and the remaining two years of the undergraduate program are delivered by GIME professors in China.

Direct Entrance Master Program:

  • A student who has completed four years at IIHEM can apply to complete in 2.5 years (including internship) the Master’s program at GIME.

Dual Master's Program:

  • Students complete their BAC+5 at IIHEM and their credits are transferred to GIME. The student then completes 1.5 years at GIME (that include 0.5 years of internship) to earn the GIME Master’s degree.
Will I be able to transfer credits from IIHEM to GIME?

Semester Abroad Program:

  • Students may transfer up to 63 IIHEM credits.

Dual Master's Program:

  • Students may transfer 23 credits from their fifth year.
Do I get the same GIME diploma as the one given to graduates from the GIME campus?

Yes.

Once I complete my degree, can I take part in the graduation ceremony at GIME?

Yes.

Can I do more of my program at GIME?

Yes, within the general framework. You can do this through a transfer. You will however pay GIME tuition whenever you are on the GIME campus

What is required to graduate?

Semester Abroad Program:

  • 119 credits are required to complete the Bachelor's Program. 63 credits are taken at IIHEM and 56 credits at GIME.

Direct Entrance Master's Program:

  • 56 credits at GIME.

Dual Master's Program:

  • 56 credits are required to complete the Dual Master's Program, 23 credits are taken on the fifth year of IIHEM and 33 credits at GIME.

To get a degree from GIME the average grade much achieve 70% or above.

When are the application deadlines?

Application deadlines for the different semesters are as follows:

How long are the GIME Master's programs?

2.5 years: 1.5 years study and 1 year for internship and final thesis.

When do the semesters start?
  • The Summer Semester starts at the beginning of June(IIHEM Only).
  • the Fall Semester starts in September (IIHEM and GIME).
  • the Spring Semester starts in January/March (IIHEM/GIME).
How many credits are in each program?

Semester Abroad Program:

  • At least 12 credits (four courses) are to be taken per semester.

Bachelor's Transfer Program:

  • A total of 119 credits, 63 of which are taken at IIHEM and 56 at GIME.

Direct Entrance Master's Program:

  • 56 credits. The required internship may be done either at IIHEM (PFE) or at GIME.

Dual Master's Program:

  • A total of 56 credits, 23 of which are taken at IIHEM and 33 at GIME.

The credits may be changed with the curriculum for each year in GIME.

What is the course load per semester for full-time students?

The normal load is five courses per semester.

What are class hours?

Undergraduate classes at IIHEM are taught during the day. Classes in the fifth year at IIHEM are given from 6 - 9 p.m. and occasionally 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday. All classes at GIME are taught in the daytime.

I am working. Can I attend the program part time?

No

All programs are full-time programs with day classes. PRC policy does not allow international students to hold part-time jobs during their study in China.

When can I enroll?

Enrollment in the program takes place in September. .

What are the admissions requirements for the program?

Semester Abroad Program:

  • complete 1.5 academic years at IIHEM with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

  • successfully complete two years at IIHEM with a minimum GPA of 3.0

  • complete the BAC+5 program at IIHEM with a minimum GPA of 3.0,
  • provide two letters of recommendation from professors,

What documents need to be included in my application?

  • The application form completed in detail, with examination records certified by school authorities, attested photocopies of all additional educational qualifications already obtained and English or Spanish language translations of qualifications not issued in English or Spanish.

  • An official letter issued by IIHEM concerning the student's status,
  • Copy of passport's first page,
  • Copy of passport's one blank page,

  • Two letters of recommendation,(only for Master Program)

How much do these programs cost?

  • Tuition for all courses taken at GIME is current GIME tuition ($5500 for the 2018-2019 school year). Students will receive a scholarship of 10%, so the total tuition costs will be near $5000 per year.
  • Travel, insurance and living expenses at GIME are the responsibility of each student.

Living expenses (housing, utilities, meals, incidentals, etc.) are between $400 and $500 per month.

Who is responsible for getting the visa to Spain?

You are.

GIME will provide admitted students with an admission letter and visa documents, but it is the responsibility of each student to get the visa appointment and to obtain the visa from the embassy. Neither GIME nor IIHEM will be held responsible for a visa refusal by the PRC consulate.

Will I be able to work in the Spain after successfully finishing my program?

Students with a Master's degree are permitted to work if they are able to secure employment.

I am interested! How should I start the process?

  • Student submits an application to the IIHEM Director of International Programs (DoIP),
  • Once the application is deemed receivable by IIHEM, student meets with the DoIP to discuss and receive approval of your program of study at GIME,
  • Student submits application to GIME with IIHEM endorsement,
  • GIME arranges for an online application interview with a GIME admissions officer,
  • GIME informs IIHEM and the student of the admissions decision,
  • On admission, the student pays a $160 acceptance fee, confirming his acceptance of admission and his intent to enroll,
  • Upon reception of acceptance fee, GIME prepares the visa documents for candidates,
  • GIME posts the visa documents and paper admission notice to candidates,
  • Candidates go to local Chinese embassy to apply for an X1 long term study visa,
  • Candidates receive the visa and plan their trip!
